My Why

My name is Moana Stanbury and I became a Lash Technician in 2021 when I completed a two-day intensive lash course shortly after my husband and I decided to move back to Whangarei, New Zealand from Australia.

I have been a mother to my four children for as long as I can remember and have never had a real passion or career path until I saw an advertisement for a Lash Course and the potential earnings that you could make from this career, so I thought I would give it a go.

I completed the course and shortly after moved home to Aotearoa. I practiced lashing on my sister, daughter, friends and family and then boom December 2021 hit and was the worst day of my life. My husband was in a horrific head on collision and his life was hanging by a thread. Thankfully they were able to save his life and we could focus on his long road to recovery.

In the midst of all of that I needed to take care of my family financially while my husband recovered and also found that doing lashes was therapeutic and a coping mechanism to deal with the trauma I had experienced from my husbands accident.

My sister suggested we renovate the old studio in my garage so we painted and carpeted this space that we then named Glow Up Lash Studio and this is where my lash career started.

Two years have passed and in that time I have established myself as a Lash Artist in Whangarei, have developed a two day lash course and am about to launch my lash store under my new business name of Lash Q Collective - Quality Service, Quality Lashes, Quality Products.
